Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion is an isekai series filled with possible romance, mystery, and danger, as it all starts as Eunha Park from “our” world ends up spirited away to become Raeliana McMillan in the world of a story she’d read. With the problem being she was destined to die, with her “friend” Beatrice Tranchett solving the mystery and finding love with Duke Noah Wynknight in the process. So it’s always been about finding out what’s going on, why, and seeing if Raeliana would both survive and end up with Noah. It’s one of the earlier series to try that sort of storyline and survival twist. Fortunately for anyone who did keep up with it, the ending in the ninth and final volume of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion is a satisfying one with lots of answers.

One of the biggest mysteries hereis… well… why is Eunha even in the world of the novel? Over the end of volume 8 and the ninth and final volume of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion, we learn that the real Raeliana found out from a Dark Priestess that she was going to die in the story. She entered in a dark contract that allowed her to instead become Beatrice so she would live, and Eunha was murdered in her world by that priestess and became the new Raeliana here. (Her soul was supposed to go into Beatrice’s body after her death.) Because of the situation with the souls being where they don’t belong and the goddess’ determined fate, both Raeliana (Eunha) and Beatrice (Raeliana)’s current existences are in jeopardy.

Now, because of Beatrice and Vivan Shamal’s plotting, Raeliana almost died a few times. She also ended up being accused of killing the queen by Beatrice. Noah is with Raeliana for the final confrontation, which ends with Beatrice dead and now both fate and the soul situation being satisfied. So there’s also a second where because of passing out, she doesn’t realize that’s all resolved too and only Noah does. So she’s thinking about running away and making her plan to escape safely. But because of that, we also get a moment where we can enjoy just how much these two leads now do care for each other, as she was thinking of how to protect him, and he showed how she wouldn’t have to be alone and they could run away together. Which in turn leads to some funny moments as Heika Demint checks on and heals Raeliana after everything.
What follows is quite a bit of tying up loose ends. We see Vivian’s funeral. Aaron Blake goes on trial and is punished for his part in things. Reliana gets to build her school, in honor of her dream of wanting to be a teacher. And she does get to be with Noah. We see the full happy ending between the two of them in that world.
But what’s especially interesting here is that the Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion ending doesn’t just ignore the elements of isekai and reincarnation when Raeliana and Noah’s story comes to an end. The goddess gets involve again to meet with the two of them as things are starting to tie up. It’s foreshadowing for things to come. Because now that things are properly settled, we see Eunha living her own life again and getting the future she hoped for… but now with Noah finding her in that world too so he can reunite with her again.
It’s really a perfect sort of execution. The final volume of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion takes the time to really settle everything ahead of the ending. It gives us full closure. We get to see Noah and Raeliana end up happy together and hints at what their married and family life will be like. Then, it shows that after those resolutions, we can see Eunha getting to live past her own untimely end and reunite with Noah in his next life again.
