Nintendo used its Nintendo Today app to share an update on The Legend of Zelda live-action movie that offered a first look at lead characters Link and Zelda. The announcement also confirmed filming started and the release date is still May 7, 2027. Keep in mind this isn’t a full trailer yet, so we don’t know details about its story.

The three The Legend of Zelda movie photos used in the teaser show only these versions of the characters Link and Zelda. We already knew they’d be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason, respectively. The first photos show the two in a field together. Zelda is wielding a bow and has a quiver of arrows on her back, and she wears a blue tunic and pants. We can see make on Bragason on her ears. Ainsworth is crouched behind her, and he’s wearing the typical type of green Link tunic. No shield or sword is immediately visible.

We’ll see another movie based on a Nintendo property appear ahead of this one. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will debut on April 3, 2026. That’s another animated adventure that will incorporate characters and elements from the two Super Mario Galaxy games. The first trailer for that just appeared and offered a first look at Rosalina.

The Legend of Zelda live-action movie will appear in theaters on May 7, 2027. People with the Nintendo Today mobile app can see
