Square Enix announced two major updates for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis involving crossover stories, as the Crisis Core: FFVII campaign ended and Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII begins. The former appeared as one of the three main storylines in the mobile game, alongside the main game’s and The First Soldier, and the last chapter is out now. The latter will show up as an in-game event based on the PS2 game.

In the case of FFVII Ever Crisis and its Crisis Core storyline, we’re seeing the final confrontation between Zack Fair and Genesis. This eighth chapter, which is called “War of the Beasts,” features the two SOLDIER First Class warriors encountering each other, as well as scenes with Cloud Strife and members of the Turks like Tseng, Reno, Rude, and Cissnei. That is live now alongside the new Battering Sword sword Zack banner that includes his Heavy Shield Armor gear.

This is the second main campaign to end in FFVII Ever Crisis. The First Soldier storyline ended in October 2025. It’s unknown if this means we could see Before Crisis show up in the future as a result.

In the case of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix confirmed it will appear as an event in FFVII Ever Crisis instead of a full campaign based on the game. This will be known as the EC Edition Arising Crisis. Only a teaser logo appeared alongside a Countdown Login Bonus campaign that doles out free items for logging in each day ahead of the official reveal. In the past, similar events involved special equipment like weapons and gears, guest star bosses, and original storylines bringing up the game. As such, we will likely see at least some of the Deepground Tsviets like Azul the Cerulean, Rosso the Crimson, and Shelke the Transparent. It’s uncertain if more prominent and higher-up members like Weiss the Immaculate and Nero the Sable.
