Fluffy Paradise and Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost have some new competition when it comes to cute anime series, now that The Demon King’s Daughter got picked up and is streaming on Crunchyroll. As the name suggests, it is once again a cozy, gentle, slice-of-life sort of series about a young girl engaging in adorable activities. However, I’d say that this one is perhaps even better than its contemporaries due to how comedic it is and the wonderful interactions between little Doux and everyone around her. The way in which she connects with everyone is heartwarming and soothing, a perfect balm during real-world times that might otherwise be too much to bear.

As a slice-of-life anime, The Demon King’s Daughter is the sort of series you can jump into at any time and enjoy it. Ahriman was the sort of big bad who was attempting to take over the whole world. He seemed pretty successful. But it wasn’t a hero who stopped him. It was his daughter. She’s so sweet and so kind that he can’t bear to continue that crusade with her being that precious. There is “hope,” however. His minion Jahi is charged with making her a proper demon just like her dad.

This means the whole series is about Jahi trying to teach Doux to be evil, but she’s too innocent to pull off any real mischief or trouble. Jahi wants to lecture Doux? Doux plays hide and seek and is honestly pretty good at avoiding her. Lessons about dangerous spells? Doux uses an earth “attack” to make sculptures of her and her dad, and her “lightning” is simply static electricity. An attempt to teach her to steal a veggie from an elderly human woman results in her healing the shopkeeper’s legs in return. It is like watching the sweetest little child going out into the world and brightening it up, acting just as a five-year-old child would.

The responses of other people to Doux in The Demon King’s Daughter also help make the anime so charming. In the case of the elderly woman, we gain insight into who she was and how she would up injured. When Doux saves an angel warrior kid, at first Mayu thinks she’s a human child and goes out of his way to protect her. Then when he realizes she’s a demon, he tries to attack… but she evades by doing things like chasing butterflies and not even realizing she’s in the midst of a fight. She wins him over when he realizes she is genuinely good, which is a lovely moment.

The Demon King’s Daughter is an absolutely joyful anime series. It’s the sort of show you can watch and feel immediately better and soothed after even a portion of the episode. Doux is an absolute sweetheart. Everyone falls in love with her in-series, and probably after watching the show too.

The Demon King’s Daughter Is too Kind anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, and Yen Press will release the first volume of the manga on June 23, 2026.
