During the Tomodachi Life direct on January 29, 2026, Nintendo announced that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will come out on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on April 16, 2026. Afterwards, it posted some details on image restrictions for the players when they want to share scenes from their game.
We can see in the stream that players in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream can create lots of unique Miis and fill their island with lots of colorful characters. Considering the humor of the Internet, it stands to reason that Nintendo might not want people making Miis of controversial people to farm engagement on social media. In an article on the Nintendo website, Nintendo states that it will restrict the kinds of images that people can post of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. While it understands that “some players may find these restrictions limiting,” they want to make the game an enjoyable experience for everyone.
That being said, there aren’t any specific details in the article yet. This is likely because we don’t know the full scope of what Miis can do in the game, as we only saw more details in this January 2026 direct. Nintendo may update this article in the future when we get more details, or after the game comes out in mid-April 2026. As a reminder, these restrictions are only for image sharing. If players wish to create controversial Miis to roam around their island for their own enjoyment, they are free to do so.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will come out on April 16, 2026 for the Switch and Switch 2.
