Konami announced a new JRPG at Sony’s February 2026 State of Play, and it will be called Rev.Noir. Only an initial trailer appeared, confirming it is in development and setting the story. It is only confirmed for the PS5 at the moment. The initial trailer and gameplay footage also suggested this may be a situation where one of the protagonists turned back time to save the others.
In Rev.Noir, a phenomenon called lightfall affects the world, and our goal in the JRPG seems to be to mitigate or end it. Things start with us seeing its damage in action, with the lead character Asch’s allies hurt and killed and places damaged because of the light. The message, “I refuse to accept an ending like this” then appears. Everything then rewinds, and we see Asch just starting his journey with a young woman. We then see a number of allies and enemies. Things close out with the note, “when hope sparks catastrophe.” The video doesn’t indicate if it will be a turn-based or active battle system.
Here’s the first teaser trailer for the new Konami JRPG.
As a reminder, one of the last Konami JRPGs was Edens Zero. The Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars release also appeared on multiple platforms in 2025.
Rev.Noir is in development for the PS5.
