Tatsumaki Games has revealed that it will release Sanrio Characters: Smash Festa! for Nintendo Switch and PC in Japan. This new game will appear as the de facto successor to the SNES game Sanrio World Smash Ball.
Just like Sanrio World Smash Ball, this successor game will feature a ball-based sport in which players control a Sanrio mascot to smash the ball past opponents and obstacles to reach the opponents’ goal line. While the original Smash Ball on SNES only supported a maximum of 2 players, the new Smash Festa will be able to support up to 4 players.
Smash Festa will have over 20 Sanrio Characters, with the official site listing the following 21 mascots:

- Marron Cream
- Hangyodon
- Chococat
- Tuxedosam
- Cogimyun
- Little Twin Stars
- Kero Kero Keroppi

The PC version of Smash Festa will be available via Steam. However, the game’s Steam page appears to be region-locked to Japan only. The Nintendo Switch release will also be available only digitally for 2,980 yen (~$19.40).
Sanrio Characters: Smash Festa! will be available digitally for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in Japan in Spring 2026.
