In the February 2026 State of Play, Konami confirmed a new 2D Castlevania game with the Belmont’s Curse subtitle from Evil Empire, and it followed that up by saying “other projects” are in the works in honor of the series’ 40th anniversary. An official website is open for all of it as well. However, the announcement didn’t specify if that means more games and adaptations or could result in merchandise based on the characters

With Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, we already know that will launch sometime in 2026. The State of Play only mentioned the PS5 version, but Xbox Series X and PC versions are planned too. It features a female member of the Belmont clan using the Vampire Killer to protect Paris from supernatural enemies. The announcement didn’t note if this is Sonia Belmont, however the appearance does look similar and she was active in the 15th century, which fits with this 1499 installment.

Here’s the full statement from the Castlevania series production team that Konami shared on the 40th anniversary site that also pointed folks to the new Belmont’s Curse game.

“The doors of Castlevania open once more.

“This year marks the 40th anniversary since the original Akumajō Dracula first saw the light of day. In this commemorative year, Castlevania will be revived.

“First up is this title: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.

We couldn’t think in other studios to work together rather than Evil Empire and Motion Twin, studios brimming with talent and passion, to deliver a new exploration-based 2D action game that captures the essence of Castlevania while bringing fresh innovation.

“This is the beginning of numerous new products around Castlevania.

“Look forward to the return of the magnificent nightmare lurking in the darkness.”

In the past, we saw animated adaptations inspired by the games on Netflix. There were also compilation games that packed together multiple entries in the series like Castlevania Dominus Collection, Castlevania Advance Collection, and Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2026.
