On February 23, 2026, at the Evangelion:30+ event happening in Yokohama Arena, Studio Khara announced a new Evangelion anime from it and CloverWorks with Yoko Taro involved. It will also Keiichi Okabe, who worked on the Drakengard, NieR, and Voice of Cards series, as a composer. There’s no date for when this new series could appear.
Yoko Taro will be working on the story and script for this new Evangelion anime project. It will be his first time working on the series. He has worked on anime series before, as he was involved with both the NieR: Automata adaptation and KamiErabi God.app. Prior to this, some of his most recent works involved the Voice of Cards trilogy and 404 Game Re:set. Okabe also worked on the soundtrack for the NieR: Automata anime as well.
The last Evangelion anime adaptation was the fourth movie in the Rebuild series, 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. That came out in 2021 worldwide. It wrapped up the alternate take on events of the series and offered an entirely new ending compared to previous adaptations. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed all four of those films alongside Hideaki Anno, will return to direct this new series.
The new Evangelion anime series is in development. The original is streaming on Netflix, and the Rebuild of Evangelion movies can be found on places like Amazon.
