Statements are coming in from retailers AmiAmi, Aitai Kuji, and Hobby-Genki about holding orders as a result of changing tariffs from President Donald Trump. AmiAmi hasn’t issued an official statement on-site, but people at the Anime Figures subreddit reported receiving emails about held shipments. Both Aitai Kuji and Hobby-Genki issued official statements on the situation. [Thanks, Lemondall on Reddit!]

This is a result of the US Supreme Court ruling that Donald Trump overstepped his authority with the tariffs inflicted in 2025. In response, he stated he would inflict a 15% tariff worldwide, though at time of writing it is now at 10%. In the Aitai Kuji statement, it stated shipments would be held until hearing from DHL and FedEx. Hobby-Genki stated DHL Delivered Duty Unpaid shipments are going through as planned, it’s still working out FedEx DDU ones, and orders will be held otherwise while working out tax details. The reported emails from AmiAmi noted US orders are being paused at the moment.

Since Donald Trump’s second term started, we’ve seen these shipment issues occur as a result of his tariff policy repeatedly. In 2025, places like AmiAmi, Square Enix Store, Tokyo Otaku Mode, Good Smile Company, and Hobby Link Japan due to tariffs and De Minimis Exemption ending.

Storefronts like Aitai Kuji and Hobby-Genki will issue updates on their social media accounts and sites, while those with AmiAmi orders in-progress should keep an eye on their inboxes for information on their shipments.
