More Sanrio Tamagotchi Nano models are on the way, and the latest virtual pet involves Pompompurin. These involve the mascot as a guest who appears alongside the traditional Bandai Namco characters. Basic Orange and Magical Pink versions will appear for 2,860円 (~$18) in Japan on April 11, 2026. There’s no North American release window yet, but all previous toys in this line did end up eventually appearing worldwide.

The outer shell variety is cosmetic only, as both versions of the virtual pet work the same. You’ll raise a traditional Tamagotchi egg and character, with your level of care determining which pet you get. The difference here is that Pompompurin appears to help you care for and raise your it. The Sanrio mascot shows up for events and during certain actions. His friends Bagel the squirrel, Muffin the hamster, and Scone the mouse are also shown in the teaser images. Once a Tamagotchi character becomes an adult, they can also dress like Pompompurin.

Here are all the official images of these two models shared so far.

Lots of Sanrio Tamagotchi Nano models showed up over the years to honor certain characters. The Hello Kitty variety, with two different cases, showed up first. That was followed by a pair of My Melody and Kuromi ones. All of these eventually appeared worldwide for about $24.99 each.

The Pompompurin Tamagotchi Nano virtual pet models will debut in Japan on April 11, 2026.
