Back when Square Enix opened pre-registration for Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, a new mobile game with roguelike elements, we had an idea that the release date for Android and iOS title would probably come up in the next few months. Now, the company pinned it down. It will launch on April 21, 2026. While the product pages are live on Apple’s App Store and Google Play, those haven’t updated to include the time. (As of time of writing, Apple still says it is “expected by July 31, 2026.)
Due to the nature of the pre-registration phase ofthis Dragon Quest game, there’s no major incentive to get tons of folks to sign up for the roguelike. That’s because Square Enix already committed to a set reward at launch for folks who committed to giving it a try. People who do will get 10 Transmuter pulls. This seems like it might be the gacha component perhaps tied to equipment acquisition.
However, there is something new accompanying the Dragon Quest Smash/Grow release date announcement. Square Enix shared the opening movie for the game. This also features the traditional series’ fanfare and a glimpse at the new default hero and his mascot alongside classic monster designs.
Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will appear on Android and iOS devices, and the mobile game’s release date is April 21, 2026 worldwide.
