Square Enix is bringing elements of one Final Fantasy MMORPGto another again, as the FFXI The Maiden’s Rhapsody event will be back in FFXIV starting on May 8, 2026, with subscribers able to take part again. This is in honor of the 24th anniversary of the older game, which debuted on the PS2 on May 16, 2002. It means a chance to get Iroha equipment again.

Things are tied to the “A Journey to Remember” event. If you check in with Remumu at the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, you can kick off the quest. (You can find the NPC at X:11.6, Y:11.2.) If you complete it, you can get the Amatsu Hachigane, Amatsu Haidate, Amatsu Sune-ate, Amatsu Tekko, and Amatsu Togi. When wearing this, you’ll look exactly like you’re wearing Iroha’s armor. This set is not restricted to any races or genders, but you can’t dye it. People who already finished it can use Seasonal Event Replay to go through it again.

This isn’t the only way FFXI is honored in FFXIV. There are also the Echoes of Vana’diel Raids that started to appear in the Dawntrail expansion. Those are 24-player raids that include appearances from characters like Prishe and Shantotto, allowing us to interact with them. Those include various references to the older game.
