Nintendo announced new Star Fox entry based on the N64 game will come to the Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. It will work with the existing N64 controller used for Nintendo Switch Online titles. There’s also Joy-Con 2 mouse support and co-op. A dedicated Nintendo Direct went over gameplay footage and features.

Things started out with an explanation. This will be based on the N64 entry in the series. So we’ll see a similar storyline and locations, as well as pacing, but with new character models, designs, and voice acting. There will be Arwing and Landmaster segments. If someone has a friend nearby, they can join in for co-op with one person acting as the pilot and the other as a gunner. (The gunner would use mouse controls, though a person in single player could use them as well.) If you use GameChat and play the PVP Battle Mode, then your chosen avatar will appear instead of your face in camera mode.

Here’s the full Star Fox Direct.

This comes after we saw Fox McCloud show up in another project. He ended up making a crossover cameo in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Star Fox is heading to the Switch 2 and will release on June 25, 2026.
