One of the biggest surprises during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct ended up being a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2. It is in development for the system and will appear in 2026. A first trailer appeared. This will mark the second remake of the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is known for its time-traveling mechanic, as the game begins with Link and Navi the fairy leaving Kokiri Forest at the Great Deku Tree’s behest to meet with Princess Zelda of Hyrule. She asks him to assist her in protecting the Triforce from Ganondorf. The footage teased during the event gave us an idea of how it will look by showing a peek at how Link will look when the game begins.

We’ve seen The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time quite a few times before this remake. The action-RPG first appeared on the N64 worldwide in 1998. It then also appeared on the GameCube, and that release also marked the appearance of Master Quest additions. Then in 2011, a 3DS remake appeared. We also saw a manga adaptation of this The Legend of Zelda story appear.
