Shueisha had a contract with Walt Disney Japan that enabled it to publish manga adaptations of Marvel characters. The company revealed that this contract is set to expire on September 30, 2026.

The Japanese publisher has no longer produced new physical volumes of the Marvel manga series, so the ones still available in physical stores comprise the final batch. Shueisha will also gradually take down digital versions of the same titles between September 28-30, 2026, although those who have purchased the e-books by then will still be able to access them for the foreseeable future.

Here is the list of titles affected by the contract expiration:

  • Marvel x Shonen Jump+ Super Collaboration
  • Secret Reverse
  • Spider-Man: Octo-Girl
  • Spider-Man: Kizuna
  • Deadpool: Samurai

As a side note, Deadpool: Samurai and Secret Reverse had their English releases published outside Japan in 2022. As Shueisha’s announcement is so far only known to affect Japan, what happens to the English releases is yet to be known.

People have until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM JST to purchase the Marvel collaboration manga series before Shueisha takes them down due to contract expiration.
