NPC Studio announced the 0.16.2 patch for Fields of Mistria that carries out migration to the internally developed engine is live and affected mod compatibility with fan-released content. The developer noted that people who used mods prior to this update will experience issues with those saves. It also released details about the engine on Github for modders to assist with updates and future compatibility.
The developer explained that it felt this new internal engine was a necessary move for Fields of Mistria. It mentioned that, because of the change, the game will be more stable, run better, and support integrated graphics. It also noted the patch added Linux (through SteamOS), SteamOS, and native Steam Deck support.
Ahead of this new 0.16.2 Fields of Mistria engine migration patch, NPC Studio teased one of the 1.0 additions. A giant chicken mount will be part of that launch, and we got to see what it looks like riding that around town in a teaser trailer.
It’s possible to get Fields of Mistria at a discount for a limited time. It is part of the Steam Summer Sale until July 9, 2026. It currently costs $11.19, rather than $13.99, as a result.
Fields of Mistria is in early access on PC and migrated to a new engine with patch 0.16.2, and the 1.0 launch happens on August 5, 2026.
