Bandai Namco will bring Once Upon a Katamari to the Switch 2 and, when it does, will also bring levels from the Apple Arcade exclusive entry to the game as paid Rolling Live Highlights DLC. Both that version of the game and the add-on will debut on October 8, 2026. A Switch 2 physical copy that includes both will be sold, but that will be a game-key card and not a full cartridge. The original Switch version will also get a free update so people who own and play it on the newer console can get access to the free features.
As a reminder, Once Upon a Katamari is a traditional type of entry in the series that involves the Prince cleaning up after The King of All Cosmos’ mess again. Literally, as his father screwed up when the family was cleaning up the house and destroyed the galaxy in the process. We need to travel through time to fix things.
In the case of the Switch 2 version of the game, there will be improved performance and visuals. More importantly, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls will be added. Those can be used in every mode except the online Katamari Ball one.
As for the Rolling Live Highlights DLC, that will involve a handful of elements from the Apple Arcade title. That means the playable Cousins characters Cameron, Catherine, Jack, Milky, Patch, and Phil will be available to use, 10 quests from the game will appear, 12 songs from its soundtrack will show up, and we’ll get 18 more accessories for The Prince and Cousins to wear.
