Toho and Sanrio announced a new line of merchandise that involves mascot characters like Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll dressed up as different versions of Godzilla from both old and new movies. The promotional page is now live ahead of it appearing at places like the official Godzilla store, Don Quijote, and Bic Camera on July 22, 2026. It’s unknown if we’ll eventually see the items worldwide as well.
In the case of this crossover, every Sanrio character is dressed up as Godzilla, but they each look like the kaiju from a different movie or era. Both Cinnamoroll and Hello Kitty are in Godzilla costumes based on the 1954 movie. Hangyodon and Pompompurin are dressed as the Heisei version of the character from Godzilla vs Destoroyah. Meanwhile, Shin Godzilla from 2016 is the inspiration for the Kuromi, My Melody, and My Sweet Piano items in this collection. My Sweet Piano is in the character’s second form, while both Kuromi and My Melody are in the fourth form.
As for what will be available, here’s a full list of upcoming merchandise and prices.
- Acrylic Keychains – 1,100 yen (~$6.80).
- Blind Box Mini Acrylic Stand – 660 yen (~$4).
- Blind Box Mini Figures – TBD – these won’t launch until August 2026.
- Cup – 935 yen (~$5.80).
- Flake Stickers – 1,100 yen (~$6.80).
- Mini Towel – 990 yen (~$6.10).
- Plastic Keychains – 1,430 yen (~$8.80) – these won’t launch until August 2026.
- Plush Keychains – 3,080 yen (~$19).
- Stickers – 660 yen (~$4).

Quite a few Sanrio crossovers with other famous characters and IP came up in the last few weeks. There’s going to be a new Licca-chan doll dressed as Pompompurin, which will show up in the US, following a Kuromi one. Inazuma Eleven folks posed with mascots for some other new items. There are also new types of Sonic the Hedgehog items of the icons dressed in Sanrio costumes.
The Godzilla Sanrio character merchandise will show up in Japan starting on July 22, 2026.
