The Nintendo Switch Online GameCube and Virtual Boy Classics apps will update to add Super Mario Sunshine and two unreleased games in August 2026. The two Virtual Boy titles will appear first. For the first time, D-Hopper and Zero Racers will be widely available on August 4, 2026. Then on August 13, 2026, the Super Mario spin-off GameCube game will launch on the service.
Both the D-Hopper and Zero Racers announcements came up during an “Enter the Third Dimension” promotional trailer for the Switch and Switch 2 NSO Virtual Boy Classics app. In the second half, gameplay footage for each unreleased game appeared. D-Hopper is an Intelligent Systems action game previously known as Dragon Hopper that involves Prince Dorin exploring stages and defeating bosses to rescue his loved ones, save his kingdom, and go home again. Meanwhile, Zero Racers is a 3D racing game that was supposed to be part of the F-Zero series.
Here’s that trailer, which also shows the headset and highlights a number of other games available via Nintendo Switch Online.
As for Super Mario Sunshine, that’s the spin-off game that involves Mario donning Professor E. Gadd’s FLUDD to clean up Isle Delfino of both goop and mysterious enemies. The tool can also be used to hover and explore areas. The teaser for that only showed up on social media. There’s no gameplay footage yet showing how the game will look on the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch Online Virtual Boy Classics Switch and Switch 2 app will get the unreleased games D-Hopper and Zero Racers on August 4, 2026, and the GameCube Switch 2 one will get Super Mario Sunshine on August 13, 2026. Both the Virtual Boy and GameCube apps require the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack subscription, and that’s the more expensive tier that costs $49.99 per year.
