Square Enix announced that there will be a brief worldwide outage in FFXIV due to emergency maintenance being carried out on all Worlds for the MMORPG on every platform. It is planned to last for about four hours. Depending on the time zone, this could start on August 13, 2026. But it generally affects everyone who subscribes to and plays the game on August 14, 2026.
When bringing up the situation, Square Enix blamed FFXIV 7.55 hotfixes. This should involve remedies to problems we already heard about on the Lodestone earlier in August 2026. This means we could see problems with Crystalline Conflict, the “In the Shadow of the Tower” in “Occult Crescent: North Horn” quest, and perhaps even the Switch 2 version of the game.
Here’s the official estimate for how long the FFXIV emergency maintenance should last on August 14, 2026. Note that Character Renaming, Data Center Travel, Home World Transfers, and item/gift code entry will all stop working about 30 minutes before this starts, but all of those should be back to normal once maintenance ends.
- Pacific Time: Starts at 11pm PT on August 13, 2026 and ends at 3am PT on August 14, 2026.
- Eastern Time: Runs from 2am ET to 6am PT on August 14, 2026.
- Greenwich Mean Time: 6am GMT to 10am GMT on August 14, 2026.
- Central European Summer Time: 8am CEST to 12pm CEST on August 14, 2026.
- Australian Eastern Standard Time: 4pm AEST to 8pm AEST on August 14, 2026.
It is possible the outage could last longer, or even shorter, as this is an initial estimate.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the emergency maintenance for FFXIV should be finished on August 14, 2026. The Evercold expansion will launch in January 2027 on every platform.
