It’s been almost a year since we last saw NetEase’s ANANTA, formerly known as Project Mugen, and now it is confirmed the upcoming game will be at shown at gamescom 2026. The official social media account confirmed it will be part of the Opening Night Live presentation in some capacity. We’ll see it during the August 25, 2026 live stream, which starts at 11am PT/2pm ET/8pm CET.
The announcement for the ANANTA gamescom 2026 appearance appeared alongside new key art. It showed the Captain player character holding a clapperboard with 8/24 on it and the game’s name while running on top of a car’s roof. In the background, we can see his partner Taffy holding a megaphone and jumping.
Here’s that official teaser:

The last time we saw any sign of Project Mugen involved a TGS trailer back in September 2025. That showed actual gameplay footage. Before that, a video appeared in December 2024 that confirmed the official name for the game. Since then, the only updates on social media involved official art for New Year’s 2026 and Chinese New Year.
Ananta (formerly Project Mugen) is currently in development for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and we’ll see the game again during gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026.
