A new animated video on the official Pokemon YouTube channel stars a Mabosstiff simply trying to babysit their trainer’s baby and a rogue Whimsicott who has their own opinions on “babysitting” and “being responsible.” It is part of Project Poketoon. Shirogumi Inc, which worked on Dragon Quest: Your Storyand the The Idolmaster Million Live anime, is listed as the studio that worked on it in the credits.
The “Mischievous Whimsicott? Not on Mabosstiff’s Watch” video begins with environmental storytelling and is basically an animated Pokemon short with no words. We see a photo on the wall of a young trainer as a child with a Maschiff. We then see both have grown up, with the Pokemon having evolved and her now being a mom with a child of her own. She’s doing some work in the kitchen while her baby sleeps in the crib with Mabosstiff watching over the kid.
However, trouble starts when the mom goes to make a video call on her laptop. Winds blow in a Whimsicott from outside, and it quickly gets to annoying Mabosstiff with its fluff in the Pokemon animation. Concerned about the invader waking or disturbing the baby, the one starts chasing and going after the intruder. This all happens while the mom is oblivious on a call. Eventually, the baby also wakes and is quite amused by the mess and chaotic antics.

The next mainline Pokemon game is Winds and Waves, which will be on the Switch 2 in 2027. The most recent release is the spin-off Pokemon Pokopia on the Switch 2, and it just got Bubbly Basin DLC and a 2.0 patch.
