The Gintama anime and manga account announced an upcoming collaboration with the series Osomatsu-san. This collaboration celebrates the 10th anniversary of Osomatsu-san and the 20th anniversary of Gintama. It seems it will pair up different characters, with merchandise based on the initial key visual available.
While more details of the collaboration will come out later, we already have the art of the main characters from Gintama posing with the sextuplets from Osomatsu-san. The pairings are:
- Gintoki and Osomatsu
- Hijikata and Karamatsu
- Kagura and Jyuushimatsu
- Katsura and Todomatsu
- Okita and Karamatsu
- Shinpachi and Choromatsu
You can see all of those folks together below.

The tweet announcing this called it a “collaboration between two major comedic anime series with aura.” Gintama is one of the best-selling manga (at approximately 73 million sales as of November 2024) and its latest movie, Yoshiwara in Flames, was in the top three at the weekend box office after its release in Japanese theaters in February 2026. Though the manga and anime both ended before 2020, the series remains popular today.
Meanwhile, Osomatsu-san ran from 2015 to 2025. It’s based on the 1962 manga series, Osomatsu-kun, and features the Matsuno sextuplets as adults. The humor of Osomatsu-san is similar to Gintama’s in that it’s rife with ribaldry. The first episode included lots of referential humor and parodies of other anime and manga series, too. However, due to Japanese copyright laws, this first episode was eventually removed.
You can watch both Gintama and Osomatsu-san on streaming services such as Crunchyroll. More information on the collaboration will appear at a later date.
