It turns out the new ANANTA gamescom 2026 announcement covering the future of Project Mugen involved a 2027 release date. It will show up on January 15, 2027. This comes after NetEase promised new insights into the game ahead of the Opening Night Live showcase.

The gamescom 2026 reveal also involved additional looks at how ANANTA will work. This is an open-world sort of game that isn’t dissimilar from things like the Grand Theft Auto or Neverness to Everness. Players step into the shoes of an Anti-Chaos Directorate (ACD) Task Force Captain who works alongside coworkers Richie and Taffy to keep the city safe from standard and unorthodox threats. This is a world which isn’t exactly 1:1 with our own and reality, given Taffy is a rabbit-girl and Richie has oni-style horns. The latest video highlights different locations we’ll see as we work with them.

Some of NetEase’s other recent releases include more traditional, standalone and offline games like Rusty Rabbit and licensed mobile titles like Marvel Mystic Mayhem

The release date for ANANTA (formerly Project Mugen) is January 15, 2027, and we will see it on the PS5, PC, and Android and iOS mobile devices. The official site is live now. Given there’s still some time before release, we should see more about this title at events like Tokyo Game Show 2026.
