Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog that two State of Play streams that consist of a standard and Japan showcase for Tokyo Game Show season will go over upcoming PS5 games on September 3, 2026. Things will start at 6am PT/9am ET/3pm CET and will air on YouTube and Twitch as usual. We don’t know how long the presentation as a whole will last, but standard State of Plays tend to be around 30-40 minutes.
We don’t know too much about what to expect from these two showcases. For example, the length of each one wasn’t mentioned. We do know the Japan one will immediately follow the standard edition. The standard one will be in English with optional Japanese subtitles, while the Japan entry will be hosted by the voice actor Yuki Kaji. Kaji is known for his roles as Adol in Ys, Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, andShoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia.
We do know one thing, however. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be part of this presentation. The thing is, it isn’t part of the Japan segment. Instead, the “extended look” at it will appear at the end of the standard State of Play.
The last big State of Play stream happened during Summer Games Fest 2026. That was a more general one that covered both AAA and indie titles for the PS5. Some of the big news to come out of that one involved God of War: Laufey, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Marvel’s Wolverine, Phantom Blade Zero, Silent Hill Townfall, and Until Dawn 2.
