The Pokemon Company International announced a new anime movie called Pokemon: Wild Card that focuses on the TCG and the character Mimikyu. Only a brief teaser appeared. It suggested this will show up in “2027 and beyond,” suggesting there could be more to this trading card game-associated project.
The first trailer for this Pokemon film highlights the two main characters of the anime and the TCG imagery associated with it. We first see the back of a card from the trading card game. That then turns around to transition into a scene where we see Mimikyu sitting on railing while staring at the moon. After that, we see an individual at a table playing the TCG. They wear a yellow hooded jacket with black stripes on it. When they look up as they are about to make a movie, we see they have black hair and yellow eyes.
Here’s that first video:
The trailer notes that Cloverworks is working on this Pokemon anime. That studio also worked on My Dress-Up Darlingand Spy x Family.
The most recent expansion was Mega Evolution: Pitch Black. However, another is around the bend, as the Mega Evolution Delta Reign expansion is due to arrive in October 2026.
The Pokemon: Wild Card movie will appear in 2027.
