Sony announced that people in the US can now access Live TV on PS5 on a PlayStation 5 and that anime channels are part of the launch line-up. This is the ad-supported option to watch channels with different themes. The PlayStation Blog reveal confirmed Crunchyroll is behind some of the “over 100” launch channels. That statement also confirmed Canada could be the next country to get the feature.
Sony shared the exact step-by-step walkthrough to accessing the new feature on a console. Someone will find the feature under the Media tab in the Home menu. If you scroll down, you should see the new live TV option. You don’t need to download an app to use it, and the DualSense or Media Remote could be used to check channels. You do need to log into your PlayStation Account in order to watch the live and on-demand programming available via this feature.
The initial reveal confirmed that there will be Live TV on PS5 channels dedicated to anime, fiction and nonfiction TV shows, news, sports, weather, movies, esports, and “creator programming.” Some of the anime series confirmed in the reveal and on the official site are Black Clover, Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, and Sailor Moon. Some other shows mentioned include Community, Teen Wolf, The Shield, and The Walking Dead.
