The schedule for the final chapters of The Summer Hikaru Died manga chapters leading up to the end of the series appeared. Mangaka Mokumokuren shared it on the official social media account for the series. Things come to a close in October 2026, with the horror manga officially ending on October 20, 2026. The Summer Hikaru Died is a horror and romance manga that balances dealing with an entity that now inhabits the body of a deceased teenager named Hikaru while also being a love story between Yoshiki (who loved and was the best friend of the original Hikaru) and this new individual. There are also other supernatural elements in play, as well as the mystery of what the entity is and otherworldly history of the village where they all live. Chapter 50 will show up on October 13, 2026, and the 51st will appear on October 20, 2026.
This means that, when the series ends, it should be 10 volumes long and cover chapters 47-51. The ninth one appeared in Japan back in June 2026 and covered chapters 42-46. The last to appear in the US was volume seven, which split the focus between the current actions of the pairs Yoshiki and Hikaru and Tanaka and Asako.
