Capcom started sharing new insights into Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance via a new trailer series going over the expansion’s Boosted Actions feature. As part of this, we’ll see a series of videos looking at how this affects individual weapons for the update to the game. The first one so far shows how this could change Great Sword gameplay.
The initial Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance Boosted Actions trailer is more of a summary that explains how the feature as a whole works. It establishes that this is tied to Boost Driver attacks that build up your Hunter’s Boost so some actions will be stronger or behave different than usual. Part of this footage involves showing how this can change how things change when it comes to attacking, defending, or even creating a combo. This means it is a more general video that involves footage from different weapons to highlight the new gameplay element over about two minutes.
The new Monster Hunter Wilds Great Sword footage is more focused and slightly shorter. We only see that one weapon in action. There are no exact moves and adjustments mentioned, but we can see some of the different attacks and combos that come up as a result of building up Boost when in a fight with a foe.
We should learn even more about the update later this month. Capcom confirmed Ascendance will be a part of its Tokyo Game Show 2026 plans. In addition to news about it, potentially during its scheduled stream, there will also be a demo for it at the company’s booth.
Monster Hunter Wilds is on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC now and will get the Ascendance expansion in 2027. A Switch 2 version of the game is also in development.
