A Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance trailer appeared at the September 2026 State of Play that highlighted transforming environments, a threat to the ecosystem, returning characters from the base game, and hints at a Great Dragon. It also showed off what some of the Boosted Actions and new gameplay elements will look like when the update arrives in 2027.

The video began with our Hunter and Alma returning to a rebuilt stronghold after narration from Fabius. This offered a chance to see the new area and tease the floating and airborne elements in the sky. This also marked the appearance of an older Nata who seems to now be an established researcher and ally on his own. Additional narration teased a Great Dragon. As our Hunter heads out with Alma and Nata, we start to see environments and biomes changing. This also leads to an encounter with a monster that seems to have some entity crawl out of it to attack the group. A new Elder Dragon also is teased.
