Street Gears skates into beta, still no Jet Grind Radio Online

It seems like forever since I mentioned Street Gears, which caught my attention last year mostly because Jet Set Radio has a fond place in my heart. While the graphics are eyecatching the gameplay is a far cry from an open world where cel-shaded inline skaters fight over turf by tagging it.

 

Street Gears is a simply a MMO racing game where flashy tricks increase your speed. If you want to get in on the action early beta test applications open up on April 9th and end on April 16th. Gala inc., the Japanese publisher, will select 10,000 names at random to start testing the game on April 30th. Since this is a beta test for Japan you probably won’t be allowed to play unless you’re in Japan or have a proxy account. Regardless, I’m going to throw my hat in the ring just for kicks.
