Batman And Catwoman Will Have "Heat" Between Them In Arkham City, But That’s It

There are different takes on Batman’s relationship with Catwoman. Batman: The Animated Series didn’t do much to explore this relationship while Tim Burton’s Batman Returns was more like a superhero fling. The different comics over the years have gone their own way, taking the relationship through various stages, with the two ultimately becoming rather close. Speaking with Siliconera, Paul Dini, script writer, elaborated what Batman and Catwoman’s relationship would be like in Batman: Arkham City.

"I’d say it’s pretty true to their current relationship or what everybody thinks of their relationship. There is a lot of heat between them, we’re not going to take it really beyond that in a soap opera way. There is affection, mutual esteem, and there is also a lot stubbornness. Like, if you don’t do what I’m going to say we’re going to fight now," said Dini.

"There’s always going to be that heat between and yet there is always going to be friction between them because when it comes down to it they have different methodology on how they solve a problem. For as much as they feel for each other, one’s on this side of the law and the one’s on the other side of the law. They can kind of hold hands over that side, but that’s about as far as we take it in this one. That said there’s a lot of action."

Players will be able to control Batman and Catwoman in Batman: Arkham City. During a playable demo, I clawed through thugs with Catwoman and swung her whip. She can also crawl like a cat on the ground and up on ceilings, which may open stealth routes. The game switched to Batman after I opened a vault and Two-Face catnapped her. While Catwoman is playable, a staff member from Rocksteady said for the majority of the game player will control Batman and the Catwoman scenes are roughly 10% of the game.

Batman: Arkham City comes out on October 18 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. A Wii U version has been announced, but Rocksteady staff wouldn’t share any details about it.
