Remember the clip of art work for an upcoming Cave game? It’s being used for Switch, a Ketsui style shooter for cell phones. Before you fly off into bullet hell you can pick skills, equip weapons, and dress your avatar. Switch already sounds meatier than Cave’s typical arcade shooter since the scaled down game has a substantial amount of customization. Cave also include network play in a unique, but annoying sounding way.
A corrosion gauge increases when you play a stage. If it fills up your character becomes contaminated and you will be locked out of the main game. The only way you can play Switch again is to request a rescue from a friend of wait for 12 hours to pass. This is a clever system to prevent players from using infinite credits to “beat” Switch in the first hour, but if the community is small and you’re inexperienced with Cave style shooters you may find yourself locked out of Switch frequently. Oh, but we won’t have to worry about that in North America since Switch is only available in Japan for 315 yen ($3) a month.
