We blinked, and free-running Kickstarter parkour game Hover: Revolt of Gamers is funded already. In a quick update, the team outlined plans for adding a mission editor and the possibility of local multiplayer as well.
While a mission editor is “being developed”, the team acknowledged that it might be “technically challenging” to add local multiplayer. Midgar Studios gave the example of two-player splitscreen, noting that “everything must be calculated twice”. Specific optimization technology has to be planned for to even handle this. Of course, the game will have online multiplayer.
The team is also toying with the idea of additional customization perks such as character editors or opening Hover up for modders.
Finally, they also noted concerns from backers of the two exclusively Kickstarter-available characters in the Mayor and Grind-E. Hover will only let backers of those tiers gain access to them, but “similarly designed characters with the same stats will be present in the game”.
Hover: Revolt of Gamers will be out on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Stretch goals will allow it to hit the Wii U with a modified version specifically developed to utilize its GamePad controller. You can back it on Kickstarter here.
