Update: Following Sponichi Annex’s report, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono took to Twitter and made the following comments:

Tsujimoto said that Capcom hope to utilize the unique features of online gaming as well as broaden the player base by making the next Street Fighter more accessible to newcomers.

“We’d like to  taper off content that leads to having skilled players winning and unskilled players losing instantaneously,” Tsujimoto said.

As one possible way to prevent unskilled players from losing instantaneously, Capcom are looking into implementing some sort of pay-for-advantage system into the next Street Fighter. This will allow newcomers to compensate for their lack of skill.

Capcom would also like to implement a feature that will allow users to spectate matches between high-level players within the game itself. This will allow beginners to learn general strategy and [how to use] special attacks, which will contribute to the game’s userbase, Tsujimoto said.

Capcom are looking at Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the next Street Fighter game, although Sponichi Annex says the game is still years from release.
