Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies Priced For iOS [Update]

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies is finally coming to mobile devices, joining Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD, which was released last year.

Although it is essentially the same game as the one featured on the Nintendo eShop, Dual Destinies on iOS has a couple of improvements, judging by what we’ve played of it. For starters, the game is in a higher resolution, and it looks absolutely amazing. The graphical improvement actually makes it one of the nicest looking games on the App Store.

The controls for Dual Destines are incredibly basic and perfect for touch screen devices. For much of the game, players are looking through their notebooks for relevant pieces of evidence, something that can be done simply by pressing on an icon on the screen. No swiping, pinching, or flicking is necessary. Instead, much like the 3DS version, players only need to listlessly tap on the screen to accomplish anything they need to do, from collecting evidence to scrolling through copious amounts of dialogue.

The game is appropriately priced for iOS devices, too. The game’s first episode will be free, and episodes 2-5 will cost $4.99 each. Alternatively, you can purchase the full game for $14.99. Additionally, the DLC chapter that was released for the 3DS version will be available as well, and that, too, will cost $4.99.

In Europe, episodes 2-5 can be downloaded for UR 4.49 /  GBP 2.99. Alternatively, you can download the full game for EUR 13.99 / GBP 10.49. The DLC chapter is available in Europe, too.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the Ace Attorney series, the games revolve around a lawyer named Phoenix Wright. Players get to play as Wright has he battles it out in the courtroom, using evidence and finding faults in witness testimonies to come out on top. Players are also given the chance to explore crime scenes, gathering information and evidence on a case before the court date.

In Dual Destinies, Wright teams up with the young and tech-savvy Athena Cykes, who can use her advanced technology to listen to a witness’s heart. This allows her to essentially hear how a witness is feeling, making it easier for her to pick up on lies or inconstancies in testimonies and adding in a whole new level of gameplay.

Update: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies is out now for iOS devices. European pricing added as well.
