Stealth Inc. Dev Releases Retro-Inspired Twin-Stick Shooter Iron Fisticle

Publisher Curve Digital and creators Dave Parsons (Stealth Inc, Gravity Crash) and Dugan Jackson (Stealth Bastard, Aqua Kitty) have released their modern take on classic twin-stick arcade shooters Iron Fisticle on Steam.

Playing as a knight practiced in the “Iron Fisticle”, you throw axes to fight your way through the hordes of zombies, robots, bats, larvae, and the rest of the gruesome line-up in Iron Fisticle. Your goal is to get through the multi-layered dungeon by a route of your choosing, taking on the big bosses along the way.

While Iron Fisticle does have the feel of a mid-‘80s twin-stick shooter (think Robotron with a bit of Gauntlet mixed in), it also has features like permanent levelling up and persistent upgrades that can be purchased and carried over playthroughs, as well as two player local multiplayer, and controller support.

You’ll also collect temporary upgrades inside levels to help you whittle down the crowds of enemies, such as throwing shurikens and maces, flame feet, and extra time in each room before the very tough robots invade to kick you out.

Of course, being an old-school style arcade game, Iron Fisticle is all about getting a higher score than your friends, and online leaderboards will constantly give you something to aim for, long after you’ve earned the achievements.

If you fancy some retro-inspired twin-stick shooting with gruesome eyeball bosses and screens full of enemies, you can purchase Iron Fisticle for $8.99 ($8.09 during its launch week) on Steam right now.
