Wrack Is A Quake-Like Arcade Shooter With Mega Man-Style Bosses

Recommended Videos

Final Boss Entertainment’s arcade first-person sci-fi shooter Wrack alludes to old-school shooters such as Doom and Quake, except it carves its out its own identity in the twitch shooter space with its combo system and kill chain finishers.

Wrack is meant to be played fast. You charge through orthogonal spaces using your speed and return fire to dodge the monsters and their projectiles. By building up your combo you rack up kill chains, which can be unleashed as chain finishers that take down huge groups of enemies, and especially bosses.

Speaking of the bosses, the design of Wrack’s biggest brutes are inspired by Castlevania and Mega Man – Keiji Inafune even said that Wrack looks like a first-person Mega Man – and so you’ll need to learn their attacks to evade them and get hits in when you can.

Aside from the story-driven missions, Wrack also has Time Attack and Score Attack modes so that you can compete against your previous bests. Plus, it has Steam Workshop support, so with any luck the game’s community will create more levels, mods, and goodness knows what else.

Wrack is out right now on Steam and its website for Windows only. You can purchase it for $14.99 ($13.49 in its launch week). There’s also more information about it on the official website.
