Mini-Game In Ittle Dew 2 Is Made To Resemble Super Smash Bros. On The N64

Ludosity is building a mini-game for its upcoming puzzle-adventure sequel Ittle Dew 2 that is made to resemble Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64.

As such, it’s deliberately low-res, interlaced, and locked at 30 FPS in order to “feel authentically from that era.” At the moment, the only arena it has is Fluffy Fields, and it only contains two characters (Ittle and Masked Ruby), plus the physics and attacks are limited, and it’s lacking a sky background.

But you should be able to get an idea of what Ludosity is going for from the image above. And if you want to see that in motion, head over to the blog post it comes from where those static images become gifs.

As to those of you that aren’t familiar with Ittle Dew or, indeed, this sequel, it’s often compared to The Legend of Zelda, but it boils its classic adventure formula down to just three items that can be combined in hundreds of ways with the environment to solve your way through the levels.

The first game follows adventuress Ittle Dew and her sidekick Tippsie  as they crash onto a strange island filled with loot and mysterious inhabitants (it’s available on PC, Wii U, OUYA, iOS, and Android).

The second game, Ittle Dew 2, is currently in development and you can follow it on Ludosity’s website. It focuses more on exploration and combat than the first game, which was more about puzzle-solving than anything else.
