While Mother / Earthbound creator Shigesato Otoi may be steering clear of even the idea of there being a Mother 4, fans have been busy creating just that. And as you can see in the trailer above, this fan-made Mother 4 is approaching completion, and looking very sweet.
It follows three kids (Travis, Meryl, and Floyd) and the leader of a biker gang who’s called Leo. It’s these four that set out to find the truth behind the rumors of “Modern Men” around their lazy American town. The journey sends them across the urban streets, to secret volcano bases, and into the path of many, many monsters.
Mother 4 is an exploration RPG, as you’d expect, and has been built from the ground up by these fans with original art, music, story, and engine. It will be completely free to download when it arrives on Windows, Mac, and Linux this summer.
