Imperial SaGa Is A Homage To The Fans Of The Series

Last year, Square Enix announced two new titles for the SaGa series’ 25th anniversary with an upcoming PlayStation Vita game with the tentative title of SaGa 2015 and an upcoming PC title called Imperial SaGa. The latest trailer shows a first look at Imperial SaGa in motion.

The video starts out with a look back at some of the artwork of past SaGa games, followed by some more for Imperial SaGa, where we can see some of the new characters and gameplay. Details on gameplay are still light for the time being, but the game takes place in a world called Dysnomia that has been covered by a dark miasma, and the demigod protagonist Adele and other heroes will go up against the gods.

The video shows that SaGa creator Akitoshi Kawazu is the executive producer behind the title, along with series illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi and Chinatsu Kurahana as the character designers. Series composes Kenji Ito is in charge of the game’s soundtrack.

In addition to having SaGa-style looks, music, and artwork, there are also several references and features from past games of the series shown in the video, with major villains like the Three Gods of Evil, the Seven Heroes, and the Four Noble Devils.

We also see a glimpse of some SaGa features such as “battle formation,” “cooperation,” and “flash,” which Kawazu previously specified that they won’t be a point of focus in SaGa 2015 on PlayStation Vita, but it appears to be a big one in Imperial SaGa for PC.

Imperial SaGa will launch sometime in 2015 for PC as a free-to-play title.
