Final Fantasy VI Speedrun World Record Smashed Due To New Gameover Glitch

Recommended Videos

The tool-assisted Final Fantasy VI speedrunning world record has been beat by over two and a half hours due to the use of a newly discovered “gameover glitch.”

The glitch was found in May 2015 and involves dying 52 times in a row on the world map. Sometimes, performing the glitch causes the game to freeze, or it can trigger corrupted cutscenes. However, with tools it can be manipulated to trigger the game’s ending.

By doing this, Final Fantasy VI was beaten in 32 minutes and 50 seconds, as you can watch in the video above. If  you want a detailed breakdown of how this glitch is manipulated to trigger the game’s ending then read this.
