Now that the standard Nintendo New 3DS is available in North America via the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle, the official Nintendo online store has begun selling cover plates. The products went live today, with 10 initial cover plate sets available at launch.
The Nintendo New 3DS cover plates range in price from $9.99 to $16.99. Standard, single color plates, like the Pink and Turquoise varieties, are $9.99 each. Select character and patterned plates, for example the Black & White Polka Dot and K.K. Slider designs, are $12.99. The Kirby and Pikachu sets are $14.99 each. The Legend of Zelda one is the only one that costs $16.99.
All of the cover plate sets only work with the Nintendo New 3DS. Users must have a size-0 screwdriver to install them.
