Sega’s key developers of the Phantasy Star and Yakuza series had some details to share on their current and future developments in a recent Q&A session featured in this week’s Dengeki PlayStation’s 600th issue edition. [Thanks, Hachima.] Phantasy Star producer Satoshi Sakai: Q: Are you guys not going to release Phantasy Star Portable titles anymore? We’d like to see you guys make more for console that’s not Phantasy Star Online 2. A: Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans at the moment. We may make one, based on the flow of Phantasy Star Online 2 and when we feel that it’s needed for the series. Q: We’d like to have something like Panzer Dragoon, or some kind of game that lets you play as a dragon. A: I’d like to make that, but unfortunately, the difficult part would be whether such a game would sell or not. Sega’s chief creative officer and Yakuza series general director Toshihiro Nagoshi: Q: Have you thought of any new IPs for Yakuza’s studio? A: No comment for now, but I have been thinking about it. Q: What about a full remake for Yakuza 2? A: Let’s first release Yakuza Kiwami, then see how its reaction goes.
