The creators of first-person party-based RPG Arakion (think Dungeon Master and Legend of Grimrock) have released a new video that outlines the basic mechanics of the game.
As well as basic grid-based movement, looking around to observe enemies and to find traps and puzzles, and basic attack and defense, one of the game’s more interesting features is the fact that your characters age.
This aging process will occur over time as you play and will affect your character’s attributes when significant ages are reached. Arakion’s world also has a night and day system and as you move through its dungeons, forests, and temples there will be events that only take place at certain times.
While Arakion is mostly about exploring it also lets you build a town as you wish, having it focus on defense, or farming to get you more resources when on the road. Combat is pushed to the side slightly (it doesn’t even have levelling up) but you can at least find wildlife that can be adopted as pets and trained for combat.
Arakion is currently in its alpha stage and early builds are being released over on its website and forums if you want to check it out.
