Disaster Report creator Kazuma Kujo’s new company Granzella announced in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that they’re developing Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories for PlayStation 4.

Disaster Report 4 was initially planned for a 2011 release, but it was canceled in the wake of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami at the time. Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories is the new title with Kujo as the producer.

We’ll have more information available once more leaks from this week’s magazine issue. The game’s first trailer is expected to release on November 27.

Update: Hachima has provided more information from the Famitsu issue.

  • The game was cancelled because there were many parts they couldn’t put together.

  • It’s been several years since the game was cancelled, and during this time they have worked on improving the quality of the game’s system.

  • The game is being developed by GZ Studio, Granzella’s new company. The staff consists of members from their Irem days.

  • The title’s “Plus” was added because the game is being remade.

  • While they are using the original version as a base, everything is made from scratch.

  • Rather than simply making an escape a week after the earthquake disaster, there will be times where you’ll need to return to the same places two or three days later.

  • Time progress will change the situation of areas, for example, one place might be a mess but you can return to it later to see a crane getting rid of debris  and rebuilding from the disaster.

  • Choices made by the main character will have an affect on how things turn out later. The amount of changes that are affected this way have been vastly increased.

  • Eating foods that have gone expired or not using the toilet will affect performance.

  • As an element that can only be done through PlayStation 4, they want to make something that makes players feel connected with other players in some way or another.
