Street Fighter V Producer Explains Why Some Of Its Cinematics Were Changed

Recommended Videos

Capcom has been tweaking and balancing various parts of Street Fighter V including the appearances of its characters. One notable recent change was for R. Mika’s “butt slap” for her Critical Art activation, which executive producer Yoshinori Ono discussed in an interview with UOL Jogos. [Thanks, Shoryuken.]

While there’s been plenty of discussion about why Capcom decided to change R. Mika’s cheeky butt slap cinematics, Ono explained that it was a decision that came solely within the development team:

“We didn’t make any change because of external influences. Those changes came up internally. We decided to remove [R. Mika’s butt slap] because we want the biggest possible number of people to play, and we don’t want to have something in the game that might make someone uncomfortable.”

The Street Fighter producer went on to explain that while they can’t possibly remove everything that may be offensive to everyone, their goal is to try to reduce it as much as possible.

Street Fighter V will launch on PlayStation 4 and PC on February 16, 2016. Yoshinori Ono also recently spoke about his hopes to reset the competitive playing field with the game, which you can check out in our earlier report.
