Agatsuma Entertainment Closing Its Doors

Agatsuma Entertainment has just announced its dissolution. Due to financial difficulties, the developer and publisher will be immediately closing its doors.

Originally opened in 1997, Agatsuma Entertainment primarily focused on titles for Nintendo handhelds. Its first game was Poke-Inu: Pocket Dogs for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, which was released outside of Japan as Pocket Dogs. It was responsible for bringing 5th Cell’s original Drawn to Life to Japan. One of its most notable releases was Code of Princess for the Nintendo 3DS, a side-scrolling action game picked up by Atlus. However, it also released a number of games for other systems. It brought NyxQuest to the Japanese Nintendo Wii and Sayonara Umihara Kawase + to the PlayStation Vita.

Most recently, Agatsuma Entertainment has been working on bringing Umihara Kawase games to a larger audience. It brought Sayonara Umihara Kawase to Windows PCs in October, followed by Umihara Kawase and Umihara Kawase Shun: Steam Edition in November.

Agatsuma Entertainment plans to completely liquidate all of its assets by March 31.
