Wandersong, An RPG In Which You Save The World By Singing

Solo developer Greg Lobanov (creator of Coin Crypt) has put his upcoming RPG Wandersong up on Kickstarter. He’s seeking $18,000 to fund the game’s sound and music.

The musicians lined up to compose for the game so far include Hyperduck Soundworks (Dust: An Elysian Tail) and Martin Molin, of Swedish folk-pop band Wintergatan.

Now, Wandersong is billed as a side-scrolling RPG in which you save the world through the power of your singing, so the music is very important. You move and jump around the world as is typical but can use the mouse or analog stick to bring up a radial wheel that lets you sing different notes.

Lobanov notes that “Wandersong is *not* about learning a few note patterns and re-using them throughout the game: it’s about observing the environment, and using music to interface with each unique situation.”

By singing, you’re able to move objects, change the direction of wind, clear fog, summon birds, passify ghosts, even alter the flow of time. It has unique effects in different parts of the world so you’ll need to discover how it can affect the local area.

The plan is to get Wandersong out for PC around September 2017. Currently, the first act of about seven or eight has been finished.
